Sunday afternoon, working in the lab....
It is almost the climax of my weekend, it's around 4p.m,
the day is almost off and I'm in a cold lab working alone listening to French
music. Even from a French perspective, it sounds sad. But I choose to be here
and do some work, after all, it's more stimulating that watching crappy TV
program like a zombie. I made the decision of working like a dog until the end
until September, date after which I'm not going to be paid anymore, and I have
to submit the final thesis within the following year. My supervisor, who has
been hassling me for doing more work since last September, made a point
questioning if the job is not finished then, what will I do? My friend L. is
actually finishing to write its thesis, and I saw him struggling about
unsatisfying results and low money. I definitively don't want to go thought
that. Hence, I do weekend work and avoid drinking spree, at least during
week days.
As I wrote, my weekend has been really quiet, specially
compared to my previous weekend
in London. Friday eve, I was at the felicity's house, (Y. and E.'s)
with L.. we spent the eve watching Channel 4 program aimed to young
people (Old Friends, Final Friends, Will and Grace, Sex and The city, Graham
Norton NY, Banzai and South Park), drinking good Belgian Beers and eating French
and Spanish sausages. Watching Sex and the city, I realised how pathetic we
probably looked, 4 lads on a Friday eve, watching sex and the city, bloody hell,
we needed some girls ! Unfortunately and predicatively, they never came.
However, it was relaxing, and I needed to relax.
Saturday was in the same spirit. I did some work, went
shopping more for seeing normal people on their brainless consummation spree.
For me Saturday in a city centre is a waltz of plastic bags hanged of
almost every end. You feel excluded if you don't have one. I was there for
buying cheap but good vegetables at the covert market, I don't know why but I
loved the covert market, it's really a grass-roots place with all the hawker
screaming. Saturday eve was more or less the same at the house of felicity,
except that we rent American wedding. Definitively relaxing, funny but very
relaxing.
Today, I woke up late and went to buy the newspaper and
a phone card, then I went to the supermarket, and I realised that on Sunday it
was opening at 11 am because I was 25 minutes early. I decided to wait there
reading the paper on a bench, the sky was cloudless and it was very nice, cold
and windy, but in UK you have to use any opportunity to enjoy the sun. It's rare
and never last long. Back home, I have eaten and phone a few friends in France, A.
and M., both are old and very dear friends and I'm always very happy to
chat around with them.
And now the lab...
