Trilogy - One

I have saw the first instalment of Trilogy from Lucas Belvaux, one or "Cavale". I quiet liked it even if it was a little slow. I want to see the two others, but it might turn out to be impossible as I will go to Wales the next week end or the one after.

Any comments on the movie would be incomplete because I haven't saw the other films, each movie can be watched on its own, all have their own story but showing the same characters during the same short period of time, the main characters of one film being the supporting acts of the others.

In "Cavale", Belvaux plays the main character, Bruno le Roux, a former terrorist of a radical leftwing groups who manage to escape from jail. The past 15 year of confinement haven't diminished his fanaticism, to the contrary he is obsessed by revenge and anger. The movie follow his quest toward the man that denounce him and his terrorist friends. Lucas' performance is good as all the cast, but his attempts to show the man behind the monster and the monster behind the man sometime don't work extremely well. I really enjoyed Catherine Frot, I found her beautiful and almost sensual for the first time in addition to her good acting skills.

The concept behind came from Belvaux curiosity to supporting part of a previous movie. What happen to them when the hero is not around. It is also a way to show that there are no absolute hero either insignificant people, everybody could be interesting enough to be under the spotlight the time of a movie...

So if you have the opportunity, go and see the trilogy!.
